Dr. Angelle Tanner
Dr. Tanner is the Project Scientist of the Landolt Mission. Her role is to ensure the mission achieves its science goals. Dr. Tanner currently teaches at Mississippi State University. She received her Bachelor’s of Science in Astronomy and Physics from the University of Arizona and her PhD in Astrophysics from the University of California, Los Angeles. She was inspired to enter this field by growing up watching Star Wars and the Cosmos TV series. In addition, her parents were big Science Fiction readers, although they were lawyers. She was asked by Dr. Peter Plavchan, the Principal Investigator, to be part of the mission. Dr. Tanner hopes that the mission will help a large swath of the astronomical community to refine their knowledge about many different phenomena and lead to new discoveries. She said, “It’s always the unexpected that is most exciting.” In her free time, Dr. Tanner fosters kittens and puppies to help them get adopted.
